Lena Zeliszewska was born in Lublin, Poland. She started playing the violin at the age of 7 and graduated from the Poznan Academy of Music in 2006 obtaining her MA degree. She then went on to study with Prof. Erich Gruenberg at the Royal Academy of Music in London receiving a PGDip and a DipRAM for an outstanding final recital. After graduating in 2008 Lena took up a freelance career working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra amongst others. She was also a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra.
In September 2010 Lena joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra as a 1st violin (sub-principle) and a year later she became a regular member of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. Lena particularly enjoys and appreciates BCMG Artist-in-Association Oliver Knussen’s fantastic sense of humor and intelligence every time she gets to work with him.
