Feel the Buzz
FREE composing workshops for 14 to 18 year olds
Feel the Buzz is an exciting composing and improvising project for 14-18 year olds run by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG) in partnership with Birmingham Music Service. The workshops will be led by percussionist, composer and workshop leader Jackie Walduck and BCMG musicians. There will be two days of workshops on Sunday 24 and Sunday 31 October, culminating in a performance for friends and family on the evening of Sunday 31 October. Participants must be able to attend both workshops and need to play a musical instrument or be a confident singer. BCMG welcomes instrumentalists from all cultural traditions.
Feel the Buzz will give you:
· a fun and supportive environment to make music with other young people
· new ways to get started composing and improvising
· amazing professional musicians to create music with
· a CD of all music created
· a free ticket to the BCMG Family Concert on Sunday 18 April
BCMG is one of the world’s leading classical new music ensembles and was formed by players from the CBSO. The group is devoted to the performance of new music and has commissioned and performed over 100 world premieres of new works by today’s leading composers.
All music created will be performed in a concert at the end of the day on Friday 9 April from 5pm-6pm. The concert will be recorded on CD of which everyone will receive a copy.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
