BCMG Families@4

Families@4, a new BCMG young and family listeners’ concert series, will be launched with a short interactive performance at 4pm on 26 April. Taking place on the same day as BCMG regular concerts, these short performances will explore one or two pieces from the evening performance in a relaxed and informal way aimed at children aged 7 and over.

This first one will feature Living Room Music by John Cage for a percussion and voice quartet. We will create a living room at the CBSO Centre, complete with cushions and cakes for a close-up experience of the music and musicians. Instead of using traditional percussion instruments the percussionists are asked to use household objects such as magazines, a table, large books, the floor or even a window frame! In the Families@4 performance the young audience will also get a chance to try out bits of the piece themselves and to take away a version to try at home with their family.
