BCMG is delighted to be hosting the Birmingham BBC Inspire Lab on Tuesday 6 April 2010 10.30am to 4.30pm
Have you thought about composing your own music but never actually put pen to paper? Or are you a keen composer looking to share your ideas and discover new ones? Would you like to know more about how to use rhythm, harmony, melody and form and how to make them your own?
Composer Labs are a unique chance to join professional musicians from some of the UK’s top performing groups, top composers and the BBC Proms team in a day of music making, exploration and discovery. Bring your instrument, your latest idea, a rhythm, a melody, a finished work or just a friend. Try things out, question the experts.
Attendance at a Lab isn’t compulsory to enter the Young Composers’Competition (or vice versa), but they’re a great way to give you an inspirational kick start if you’re thinking of entering!
Whether you’ve been composing for years or you’re just starting out, if you are aged 12–18 the BBC Proms Composer Labs are there for you to come and explore, push your musical boundaries and discover something new.
All you need to do is visit bbc.co.uk/proms to apply online or contact promslearning@bbc.co.uk or call 020 7765 0643 if you would like to attend this Lab.
Places are limited so do book early!
