Crowd Out shortlisted for the 2014 RPS Audiences and Engagement Award

We are ecstatic to announce that Crowd Out has been nominated for the 2014 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award for Audiences and Engagement!

These prestigious awards, presented annually in association with BBC Radio 3, showcase the best in live classical music and are judged by a panel of independent juries that represent the industries most illustrious professionals.

We are honoured to have the opportunity to represent the Midlands in the shortlistings alongside Spitalfields Music, Berlin Philharmoniker and our Sound Investors who co-commissioned the piece.

BCMG premiered Crowd Out on 8 June 2014 in Birmingham’s Millennium Point with 1000 performers shouting, singing and chanting, under Simon Halsey’s musical direction, David Lang’s extraordinary community-based piece which facilitated participators from all walks of life to get involved, whether or not they had musical training. It then went on to be performed outdoors in the Berlin Kulturforum 14 & 15 June and in London’s Arnold Circus on 21 June.

Shortlisted along with Crowd Out for the RPS Music Award for Audiences and Engagement are Multi-Story and Philharmonia iOrchestra.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday 5 May 2015 at the RPS Music Awards dinner at The Brewery, London. Tickets can be purchased for this event on the RPS website here.
