Delhi-born composer Param Vir spent his early years steeped in Indian classical music, coming to the UK in the 1980s to study composition in a western idiom. Vir’s second BCMG Sound Investment commission will integrate these two traditions by fusing Indian classical ‘ragas’ with his own highly developed harmonic language to create a concerto for sarod and ensemble.
Join composer Param Vir, British sarod maestro Soumik Datta, and BCMG and Chicago-based ensemble Fulcrum Point musicians, as we explore Vir’s concerto for sarod and ensemble through talks, performance, and work-in-progress workshops.
