Music Maze is an exciting series of fun, creative, participatory workshops for children age 8 – 11 inclusive organised and run by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. There will be eight workshops from September 2013 to June 2014. The workshops usually take place at the CBSO Centre and are led by BCMG Director of Learning & Participation Nancy Evans, composer Liz Johnson and BCMG musicians. Most workshops are linked to performances by BCMG.
January’s Family Music Maze is inspired by Living Toys by Thomas Adès. In the piece a hero finds himself in various dreams and adventures: dancing with angels, fighting with bulls and soldiers and dying in outer space. In the workshop young people will compose music for the same story thinking how to create different places and atmospheres. Young people are invited to bring along an adult family member to take part in the workshop.
Living Toys will feature in our Family Concerts on Sunday 26 January 2014.
Young people do not need to be able to play a musical instrument in order to take part.
Places are free but must be booked in advance using the Ticket Info tab.
Booking is now closed.
Please note this workshop will be held at Trefoil House, Brownsea Drive, Off Blucher Street, Birmingham, B1 1QL not the CBSO Centre.
