Free drop-in creative music and drawing workshops for the whole family.
Watch a young child listening to music and you will see their waving hands draw shapes in the air. Listen to Bach or Xenakis and see the geometric shapes forming in your mind.
Have you ever thought how you might draw the sound of a grand cello melody, what the dark honk of a saxophone might look like or how to communicate visually the sweet trill of a flute? Have you ever wanted to share sounds in your imagination but not been able to use traditional music notation? Designed for the whole family, Musicadoodle-do is all of this and more. Drop in or spend the afternoon drawing the sounds of BCMG musicians and create visual scores for them to perform. This is a unique collaboration between BCMG, Ikon Gallery and mac, as part of the Birmingham Family Arts Festival and The Big Draw. Small percussion instruments will be provided to join in the music-making as well as the drawing.
Drop-in for free and stay as long as you like!
