Join in the birthday celebrations at this grand historic venue in Leamington Spa, the hometown of Howard Skempton. Expect some surprises.

Howard Skempton is renowned for the distinctive clarity of his musical language and has composed over 300 pieces. Since the late 1960s, when he helped to organise the Scratch Orchestra, he has been associated with experimental music. Skempton's work is characterised by stripped-down, essentials-only choice of materials, an absence of formal development, and a strong emphasis on melody.

"Skempton composes essences, and they go straight to the heart".
