Celeste Oram is a composer from Aotearoa, New Zealand, currently based in Southern California. Her works investigate new media and strategies for musical performance and notation: video, audio, and text scores prompt performers into scenarios where they confront sound, history, and digital realities.

Celeste Oram's Sound Investment will be for a Pierrot+ ensemble: flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, percussion and voice. The music will be composed and structured around trends extrapolated from spectral analyses of sonic data collected, by the performing musicians, via an ‘app’ developed by the composer.

Pierrot Laborieux [work & The Work] is a dual concept with the live performance accompanied by an interactive soundart installation.

In concert: BCMG will give the world premiere of Celeste Oram's concert piece, Pierrot Laborieux [work & The Work], at 6.30pm on 30 August 2018 at CBSO Centre. For more information and to book tickets click here.

The European premiere will be given as part of our concerts in Trier, Germany.

Soundart: Installations at Stadtmuseum Simeonstift in Trier, Germany from 1 August and in London from late September (date to be confirmed).

The standalone soundart recording (the audio used in the installation), work & The Work, will be performed on Saturday 29 September at 6.00pm in The Dome, University of Birmingham, in collaboration with BEAST. For more information and to book tickets click here.

Excerpts of the soundart recording will be broadcast on German radio in October 2018.
