We are delighted to announce our first ever online workshops! Starting on Sunday 27 September, our creative music workshops for young people - Music Maze and Zigzag Ensemble - will happen once a month on Zoom.

Music Maze, for children aged 8 to 11, will take place in the morning from 10:30 to 12.30 whereas Zigzag Ensemble, for young people aged 12 to 18, will take place in the afternoon, from 2 to 4pm. As far as possible, we want to keep the spirit and character of our face-to-face workshops but there will be differences. All sessions will be on Zoom, places will be limited to 15 participants and will have to be booked in advance.

As usual, Music Maze will be led by our Director of Learning, Nancy Evans and BCMG musicians. Children don’t need to play a musical instrument to take part though we welcome those that do and others might be asked to find sounds in their home. There will be no formal performance at the end of the workshop but we will find ways to share what we have created. Zigzag Ensemble will be led by double bassist and composer Ben Markland and BCMG musicians, and all participants will need to have access to a musical instrument or sing. Again, there will be no formal performance at the end but we aim to record all pieces created in the sessions.

We look forward to seeing our young composers again soon!
