Project Manager: NEXT

[email protected]

Miranda is Project Manager for NEXT, a new, innovative program of study ran in conjunction with Royal Birmingham Conservatoire which supports early career musicians who want to dedicate their professional career to contemporary music.

A brief history

Miranda moved to Birmingham from Edinburgh in 2018, having worked previously for the Edinburgh International Festival, and, before that, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Miranda also works as a freelance music critic and contributes to The Herald (Scotland), The List and The Arts Desk, and has spoken on arts programmes on BBC Radio Scotland.

Miranda read music at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2011, and studied voice with Susan Hamilton.

Fun facts

Miranda sings with the CBSO Chorus and Coventry Cathedral Chamber Choir. She also enjoys yoga, swimming, reading and cooking.

Miranda loves cats and is constantly petitioning her partner to allow her to adopt one. She’s confident he’ll get over his allergies in time.

Best thing about working at BCMG?

"There’s so many great things about working for BCMG, but my favourite is witnessing NEXT musicians working with great composers, and seeing the buzz felt by both the players and composer as they collaborate. As for Birmingham itself, one of my favourite things is the city’s canal network. When I moved here, I’d expected a sprawling concrete jungle, but I’m continuously surprised by how much nature can be found right in the city centre, and love seeing the seasons unfold through the flora and fauna on the canal on my walk to work.”
