We are delighted to wish composer and friend of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group Sir Harrison Birtwistle a happy 87th Birthday. To mark the occasion we have put together a celebratory collection of performances and content including his works, and behind-the-scenes from Artistic Director Stephan Meier.

Sir Harrison Birtwistle is one of the leading European figures in contemporary music. Within his work he combines a modernist aesthetic with mythic power and emotional impact. This music has been a prominent part of BCMG programming, culminating in the world premiere performance of Three Songs from the Holy Forest in a celebratory performance in 2019 to mark his 85th birthday.
