'Just a quick note to say a big thank you for our music workshop today; it was a great opportunity for year 6 to explore another aspect of the curriculum post-SATs. Duncan was fantastic with them, making links to all areas of the curriculum and related the children really well, giving them lots of snippets of information that linked to other subject areas, which is always really useful for the children. On a personal level, I found it really useful from a CPD aspect, as I have now seen a really good demonstration of how to record sounds and manipulate them using the Soundplant software with the children creating their own music.' That's My Music! Teacher CPD That’s My Music! CPD consists of termly twilight CPD sessions for primary teachers exploring composing with primary age children. Below are past and future themes. Developing composing activities for topics. Understanding children as composers and how they progress as composers. Developing composing activities from stories, poetry, visual art and movement. Using other music as the inspiration for composing. Using simple music technology, software and apps to support children’s composing and musical creativity. Composing songs with children. Throughout all sessions we will consider how to manage and organise the composing process with the class, differentiation, learning about different instruments, effective questioning and feedback, and think how children can communicate their musical ideas through traditional and non-traditional notations such as graphic scores. Supporting paper and online resources will be provided where possible. For the date of the next CPD session and to book click here.
