With her distinctive and intensely striking sonic language, Rebecca Saunders was commissioned in collaboration with Klangforum Wien and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. BCMG gave the UK premiere of Scar on 15 December 2019 at CBSO Centre.

In the composer's own words '[Scar] is quite a beast, long, virtuosic and quite dense and an hommage to the wonderful pianists who are the very backbone of an ensemble.'

Scar received a repeat performance by BCMG at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in 2020.
