Take a bow BCMG - in just one week, the ensemble has performed in three countries, given eleven world premieres and opened Gaudeamus Muziekweek. We've performed to hundreds of eager ears in Trier, Birmingham and Utrecht and met more than a dozen composers from all over the world. Here are highlights from a wonderful week:

1) Marx.Music gives us 11 world premieres

As part of our Marx.Music project, we gave world premieres of six BCMG commissions and five Wilde LIeder Marx.Music Competition winners - not to mention the three Sound Art winners we presented too.

Discover the music we performed on the commissions section of our website.

2) Six performances in three countries in seven days

We started with our Music & Society event in Birmingham (1), before jetting off to Trier, Germany for two concerts (2, 3) and a sound art presentation (4) with works exploring the life and works of Karl Marx (who was born in Trier 200 years ago). Then we were back in Birmingham to give the Birmingham premieres of the Marx.Music works on Tuesday 4 September (5) and last but not least we were in Utrecht for the Singel Serenade [Canal Serenade] opening of Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2018 (5).

3) Stunnning venues

From CBSO Centre...

To Trier's elegant Elector's Palace...

And Utrecht's wonderful canals...

Our surroundings have not been sore on the eyes.

4) Working with wonderful musicians, composers and friends

We were joined by fabulous soloists Elizabeth Atherton, Salome Kammer and Marcus Farnsworth as soloists for our Marx.Music concerts, we enjoyed meeting all the composers part of the project - and of course our fantastic partners in both Trier and Utrecht were amazing. Thank you to everyone that made this week so special.

5) ... and it doesn't stop there!

This week is just the beginning of a busy autumn and winter - next Sunday 16 September our free Music Maze and Zigzag Ensemble workshops start again, 15-23 September Celeste Oram's commission work & The Work is at London Design Festival at the V&A and on 29 September we will be presenting Wilde Lieder Marx.Music soundart compositions alongside Luigi Nono's Contrappunto Dialettico at the University of Birmingham.

See you there!
