Pre-concert talk from 3:30pm

In honor of the 150th anniversary of Arnold Shoenberg's birth (September 13, 1874), we celebrate his legacy and rich musical heritage. Schoenberg was a pioneer of modernism, with music that transported his contemporaries to celestial worlds. The founder of the twelve-tone composition method, which brought about change to modernism in music, later growing into serialism, has rightly been referred to as a conservative revolutionary. Lunar Dreamers are still walking in his footsteps, wherever on the globe.

In this concert we celebrate his legacy, performing his most celebrated and frequently performed work Pierrot Lunaire (also known as "Moonstruck Pierrot" or "Pierrot in the Moonlight") alongside other works in a dreamlike ethereal event. We celebrate radical thought and showcase brand new works written using serialism and embrace the theme of night, transitions and freedom in sound.
