On Friday BEAST presents the first part of a project with the Qawwali Research Unit, in collaboration with Sampad, including new experimental music based on the recordings of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and A.R. Rahman.

Saturday begins with a concert of recent electronic music from Birmingham and around the world. Later, composer Monty Adkins presents music from Rift Patterns, his beautiful work for prepared pianos, video, and electronic sound.

Sunday rounds out the weekend’s events with BEAST’s first ever Family Concert. Explore how the sounds of objects in the world around you can make music. Composers Annie Mahtani and Panos Amelides curate a unique programme of music made from sounds of coins, bubble wrap and more unusual everyday objects. Join BEAST from an hour before the concert in the foyer for fun activities, where you can make biscuit tins and flower pots sing as they explore David Tudor’s Rainforest IV! For ages 7+.
