Tuesday 30 July 2024, 10am - 6pm

CBSO Centre, Berkley Street, B1 2LF

For young people aged 11-18 (school years 7-13)

BCMG is taking part in the Commonwealth Music Relay. This is an exciting international project with young people around the globe creating and performing music inspired by a newly composed song ‘Symphony’ which you can listen to here.

In BCMG’s Commonwealth Music Relay workshop you will be invited to create your own original composition based on Symphony for three BCMG musicians guided by composer Kirsty Devaney. At the end of the day, there will be a short performance to friends and family and your piece will be uploaded to a virtual music map (see here) alongside music composed and performed by young people from across the world.

If you love creating music this is the perfect opportunity for you. Participants will need some music notation skills.

You can find out more information about the Commonwealth Music Relay on their website here.

We are also welcoming young people from countries across the commonwealth to join us online for aspects of the day (according to time-zone allowances). Places are limited - please do get in touch with us at [email protected] if you are interested in taking part remotely. BCMG has made a resource to help you compose your piece which is available here.
