On 8 June 2014, at 2.30pm and 4.30pm, 1000 individuals will give the world premiere performances of Crowd Out, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang’s new piece for 1000 voices, at Birmingham’s Millennium Point, in one of the largest vocal events the city has ever seen!

BCMG is still seeking the final 100 to perform Crowd Out, which has been written for people of all abilities – so anyone can take up the challenge and enjoy the thrill and satisfaction of giving voice to this distinctive new piece.

This ‘last chance rehearsal’ is your opportunity to be at the centre of the first performances of a brand new piece of music by one of the world’s leading composers, led by Simon Halsey, one of the world’s top choral conductors – and enjoy a truly unique experience!

Participation in this ‘last chance rehearsal’ confirms your commitment to performing Crowd Out at Millennium Point on Sunday 8 June.

Following this rehearsal, participants will need to attend one of four rehearsals with 250 people, a rehearsal with the full 1000 people on Saturday 7 June (10.30am – 4.30pm) and be at the two performances on Sunday 8 June 2014 (12pm – 5.30pm).

Crowd Out is commissioned by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group with financial assistance from Arts Council England West Midlands and individuals through BCMG’s Sound Investment scheme; Spitalfields Music with major funding support from Arts Council England and financial assistance from its New Music Commission Fund; and the Education Programme of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
