Composing Workshops for 11 - 14 year olds

12th May - 14th July

BCMG Young Composers is an exciting project for budding composers in School Years 7 - 9 (ages 11* - 14) giving young people the opportunity to compose for BCMG musicians guided by composer Kirsty Devaney.

Do you play a musical instrument but also have a passion for composing or, would like to try composing for the first time? If yes, this project is for you!

Each term we will recruit a cohort of young people to participate in the series of weekend workshops. In these workshops, you will have the opportunity to compose for BCMG musician(s) and explore a range of composing techniques. The project will culminate in a concert of music which will be filmed and recorded. Experience in reading and writing music notation is helpful but not required.

We're so excited to be collaborating with the Lapworth Museum of Geology, University of Birmingham, in this term's workshops. Young people will have the opportunity to explore the exhibitions and compose music inspired by the museum's treasures!
