Much like our favourite cherry blossom, we are back once again! Join us for the highly anticipated fifth instalment of our serene Cherry Blossom Concert series. This will be an hour-long, free event for all ages, inspired by nature.

This year, we invite the whole audience to join in with a performance of Steve Reich’s Clapping Music, one of minimalism’s most iconic rhythmic works.

Join us as we showcase our world-class musicians, making time and space for mindfulness in your local community, facilitating
connection with others amongst nature.

Grab a drink from one of Brindleyplace's local cafes, and feel free to drop in and out as you please!

Please note that this is an outdoor concert without seating or cover. In the event of adverse weather, ticket-holders will be contacted in advance with details of a nearby contingency venue.

At 2:30pm there will also be a showing of our BCMG Young Composer's compositions, inspired by the music in this concert Young People's Concert Programme

At the heart of this concert is the world premiere of Julian Anderson’s Life Cycle — eight songs that explore themes of identity, memory, belonging, life, and death.
Awakening: BCMG in Tokyo

Presented during the CBSO’s tour of Japan as a pre-concert event, this concert offers Tokyo audiences a rare opportunity to hear genre-defying new music that draws inspiration from ancient Japanese traditions fused with contemporary classical music.
Bird Fanfares

David Hindley (1933-2018) - “a man who writes birdsong” - transcribed into musical manuscript the songs of birds, allowing these avian melodies to be perceived and appreciated by human ears in new ways. He was a pioneer of his field, bridging the worlds of science, technology, zoology and music. Our concert celebrates Hindley’s music, paired with other works inspired by birdsong from Olivier Messiaen.
