Hear a sculpture come alive.

Join BCMG pianist John Reid for a 30‑minute, drop‑in performance on Angela de la Cruz’s extraordinary Upright Piano (1999), presented at Ikon Gallery as part of Angela de la Cruz: UPRIGHT.

Upright Piano is a re‑made instrument: de la Cruz joined and re‑strung a whole piano with the bottom part of another so it can only be played at standing height. Restored for this exhibition, it offers a rare chance to encounter the artwork not only as sculpture, but as a functioning, reimagined instrument.

John Reid performs music by Kurtág, Haydn and C.P.E. Bach. Free entry with no need to book — just drop in!
