With her distinctive and intensely striking sonic language, Berlin-based British composer Rebecca Saunders is one of the leading international representatives of her generation. Born in London in 1967, she studied composition at Edinburgh University with Nigel Osborne and with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe.

Commissioned in collaboration with Klangforum Wien and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, BCMG gave the UK premiere of Scar on 15 December 2019 at CBSO Centre.

In the composer's own words '[Scar] is quite a beast, long, virtuosic and quite dense and an hommage to the wonderful pianists who are the very backbone of an ensemble.'
