Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival, Moseley Park

Tickets

The Notebenders are a Ladywood-based community big band who perform their unique mix of jazz and calypso music, building on the legacy of their founder and patron the late Andy Hamilton as well as celebrating the diverse and dynamic communities of Birmingham that the group represents.

This performance sees the group take the stage at Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival, including the premiere of a composition by David Austin Grey, commissioned as part of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group’s Flourish! project.

Flourish! commissions new music for Birmingham-based youth and non-professional ensembles and gives them the opportunity to work with composers. Through the Spring and Summer of 2023, we have been working with four composers and ensembles. Each composer hascomposed a short, engaging, dynamic piece of music that will celebrate something, somewhere, or someone that has strong and positive connections with Birmingham.

The 2023 Flourish! Project is generously funded by Birmingham City Council Creative Cities Legacy Grant.
