George is our Executive Director. He looks after the day-to-day running of the business, covering governance, finance, marketing, HR and making sure the team are supported. He oversees the production team to put on the finest first performances of our wonderful new commissions and performance programmes, works with composers and musicians and developing collaborative partnerships both within the UK and abroad. 

A brief history

George grew up in Portsmouth and went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a Tuba Player, freelancing alongside his studies as an administrator and project manager. Once graduated, George went on to work in concert production at the London Symphony Orchestra and has held subsequent roles in artist development at Britten Pears Arts, artistic planning at the Hallé and was a member of the 2022-23 ABO Find Your Way leadership programme. 

Fun Facts

George is a qualified whitewater Kayaking instructor and has spent a summer teaching teenagers to tackle river rapids in wilderness of upstate New York and Canada.
