Stay home... enjoy Contemporary Music with BCMG at Home

Confined to home for the next few weeks, what better time to catch up on all the wonderful contemporary music out there in the digital ether: recordings, video, blogs and resources.

Asides from all the great content already up here on our website and social media channels, BCMG at Home is our series of new online videos, blogs and resources to keep our audience of all ages entertained, stimulated and lifted.

The best place for up to date BCMG news and content is by following one (or all!) of our social media channels.

Don't forget to check our BCMG blog, for lots of great articles and interviews, with artists and musicians.

For young people

Our Learning Resources website has lots of fun things to try at home with your young ones. Some of the resources are aimed at teachers and learning professionals but can easily be adapted for use in the home, or to spark ideas for fun musical games.

You can also listen to the charming pieces created by young people in our Out-of-School workshops, Music Maze, Zigzag Ensemble and Creative Composing Lab on Bandcamp.

BCMG Artistic Director, Stephan Meier recorded two fascinating podcasts recently: one ahead of the world premiere  of Harrison Birtwistle's Sound Investment commission ... when falling asleep; the second in the lead up to the UK premiere of Rebecca Saunders' Scar

One of our most view videos on YouTube is BCMG flautist, Marie-Christine Zupancic's exploration of Brian Ferneyhough's Cassandra's Dream Song.

This is a thrilling look at a piece by a leading figurehead of modern complexity. Zupancic says 'this piece is unlike anything I've ever played in my 12 years with BCMG'!

You can also find all the releases on which BCMG feature on Spotify, including Wilde Lieder Marx Music, David Sawer's Rumpelstiltskin album for NMC, Edmund Finnis's NMC Debut Disc, The Air, Turning, our award winning recording of Elliott Carter's late works, Howard Skempton's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and more!

The wonderful musicians at the heart of our ensemble

Our work would not be possible without the tireless dedication and artistry of our musicians. That's why we've created a fundraising appeal to help those most affected by the current world situation.
