Violin

NEXT Musician 2019-20

Alicja Humeniuk began her violin studies at the age of 6 with Magdalena Olszowa and Iwona Siedlaczek at the Tadeusz Szeligowski Music School in Lublin, Poland. She graduated with highest grades in violin performance and was the principal second violin of Lutosławski Youth Orchestra, one of Poland’s leading youth orchestras. Alicja recently received her BMus (Hons) degree from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she studied under Susanne Stanzeleit, Pavel Fischer, and previously Oliver Wille. She participated in masterclasses with violinists such as Ayke Agus and Jennifer Pike. In the academic year 2017/2018 Alicja was offered a place at the CBSO training scheme, and at the Birmingham Royal Ballet training scheme the following year. She has recently been awarded the Herbert Lumby Prize for her performance of Poulenc Violin Sonata with Dominika Mak. Alicja is passionate about chamber music, has played in various ensembles and received coaching from Mathieu Herzog, Robin Ireland, and members of the Heath, Castalian and Gildas Quartets. She performed in Ulverston Spring Music Festival 2019 alongside the members of the Primrose Piano Quartet. From September 2019, Alicja will continue her studies at RBC at a postgraduate level.
